Dress of the season

I am gonna go ahead and throw this one out there. I believe Xhilaration for Target has made THE dress of the summer. At $17.99 this tube-top cotton jersey dress will be perfect dressed up or down. It has a ruffled top across the bust area adding just a little bit of style we look for in our summer smocks as well as the great smocking across the back which adds another visual detail as well as some comfort. Whether you are pulling it on over a bathing suit or dressing it up with a great wedge, this dress comes in plenty of colors at a price point anyone can afford! Enjoy ladies

Lime Green!!!

Going into this Spring/Summer season I thought my color of the season was going to be yellow. Everything I tried on while shopping was yellow, thats all I wanted to wear. But, the tide has changed to a little bit further down the color wheel. I am officially all about lime green! I want it in shoes, tops, bags, everything! It pairs great with so many other colors including navy blue and purple. I think I will definitely be making a few additions to my wardrobe in the near future including a printed maxi, some flats, a printed top for work/play and a great bag or clutch. Get me out of this office and into a mall pronto! What will your summer color be?

Summer Love

I must say that summer could arguably be the best season for fashion in my opinion. The colors, the prints, the fabrics, oh my!!! I find myself gravitating towards anything in the shape, color or charms including peacock feathers this summer. I don't know if its the color or texture that draws me in but either way I love em!
Also today while eating lunch, I saw a lady wearing ruby red patent flats that I decided are a great addition to a wardrobe at any age. They are timeless, ageless, and a great pop to any outfit.

Sweaters!!!

I have seem to gain a new affection for big cozy sweaters. Of course, they are still stylish and modern but it seems everywhere I go I end up trying on tons of sweaters. I think I am old enough to finally appreciate the gloriousness that is cashmere and I want to live in it every day! If only my paycheck would permit me to do so. If you are stuck on what to buy someone as a gift, CASHMERE anything is totally worth it! But warning, once you try it on, you won't settle for anything else. Any color, any style, any length, any fabric... its all available and its dangerous! So I warn you ladies, beware! It is nice to know that comfort and style is combined in sweater designs.

Tis The Season

Well I am sure the holiday parties are lining up and each need appropriate attire. And, I have one suggestion for you. Go Green! Forget the candy apple red colors when looking for a great new dress, grab the Kelly Green and stick with the idea that "green is the new black". Well, maybe not always, we can never completely leave the LBD (little black dress) but I highly suggest branching out of red and black and try a green dress. They are fun and there are enough shades where everyone can find a great color. Why look like every other gal at the party in a great shiny, red dress when you can be the life of the party?! I put some of my favorite finds below.

My First Blog

Well I decided to start this blog because I get a lot of my style inspiration from walking around and seeing people on the streets. I love to see what they are doing with current trends. I think that we can learn a lot just by observing other people and taking their style ideas and incorporating them into our own. But, a lot of times, there are trends that I despise and I see them walking all around the streets. So, this blog is for me to hate on current trends, share trend ideas, and explore different styles. This all started about a month ago when I was noticing 3 very popular trends popping up on my campus...
1- Fringe Boots: I understand these boots can be found in most fashion magazines and all the high-end designers have their own versions but I cannot stand them! Leave the suede and leather fringe back with the Native American Indians and the hippies... which brings me to my next trend
2- Head Bands: don't get me wrong, I am all for hair accessories but, head bands should not be worn around the forehead... the reason this became a popular trend in the 70s is because people were not styling their hair. Both men and women were growing their hair long, so it was in their faces most of the time. This is why they started using headbands around their forehead to keep the hair out of their eyes.  It doesn't look cute, especially when it puffs up at the top making your head into the weirdest shape ever. Let's live in the present people and wear head bands the proper way around the head instead of trying to relive our parent's glory days!
3- Leggings as pants: I am a firm believer that leggings were invented for 2 purposes... First, as a workout pant; they are flexible, breathable, and lightweight. Perfect for using when participating in yoga, pilates, and any various cardio exercises. Second, as a layering tool so you can wear that super cute dress even when its cold out. They were not designed to be worn in substitution for jeans, skirts, or any other bottoms. It drives me crazy when I see girls walking around with a cute top and nice shoes and then BAM! leggings... I just have one suggestion ladies, next time you see a girl with leggings on watch her as she walks, it doesn't matter what size or shape she is, there is jiggle... jiggle that could have been easily avoided with a nice pair of William Rasts!
There are so many trends and people with different styles in the world. Trends are constantly changing and I think it is really important to know how to wear them properly. I want to help make you into the girl or guy everyone stares at when she is walking down the street. The best thing about cities is that the street becomes everyone's catwalk. Let's make sure you end up on the best dressed list!
